Title

Figured rug (top)

Description

(5'8" x 3'6") This rug contains secular subjects, in which entertainments in gardens/landscapes are portrayed. The subject matter is derived from the poetry composed by the Persian genius, Omer-e-Khayyam (1048-1131 AD). The verses of his poems are also woven into the border and they are probably about the beauty of the garden, which contains various flowers and birds in this rug.
